These Terms and Conditions govern the hire of birthing pools ("the Pool") from Mamaēra. By hiring a Pool, you agree to the following:

1. Hire Period

1.1 The standard hire period is [4 weeks], starting from the date the Pool is delivered to your specified address.
1.2 Extensions to the hire period must be arranged and confirmed in writing at least [7 days] before the original hire period ends. Additional fees may apply.

2. Booking and Payment

2.1 booking and payment will be made through our website.
2.2 Payments can be made via [Visa, MasterCard, credit card, AfterPay and Paypal].

3. Delivery and Collection

3.1 Delivery is available New Zealand wide.
3.2 The hirer is responsible for ensuring someone is available to receive and inspect the Pool at the agreed delivery time.
3.3 The Pool must be returned clean, dry, and in good condition in the delivery item provided.

4. Care and Use

4.1 The Pool must only be used for the purpose of water birthing. It must not be used for general swimming, leisure, or any other activity.
4.2 The hirer is responsible for following all provided setup, usage, and cleaning instructions. Failure to do so may result in damage fees.
4.3 Do not use sharp objects, oils, or substances not specifically recommended for use with the Pool.
4.4 Ensure the Pool is always supervised and does not exceed the recommended weight or capacity limits.

5. Safety and Liability

5.1 Mamaēra is not liable for any injury, accident, or adverse event resulting from the use of the Pool.
5.2 The hirer accepts full responsibility for the safety of all individuals using the Pool.
5.3 It is the hirer's responsibility to ensure the Pool is set up in a suitable and safe location with proper flooring support.

6. Damage and Loss

6.1 The hirer is responsible for any damage, loss, or theft of the Pool or accessories during the hire period.
6.2 If the Pool is returned in a damaged condition or with missing parts, repair or replacement costs will be deducted from the security deposit.

7. Cancellations and Refunds

7.1 Cancellations made more than [14 days] before the hire period starts will receive a full refund, minus an administrative fee of [$60].
7.2 Cancellations made less than [14 days] before the hire period starts are non-refundable.
7.3 If the Pool is not used for any reason, no refund will be provided.

8. Agreement

By hiring the Pool, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. Mamaēra reserves the right to amend these terms at any time.

Setting Up Your Birthing Pool

1. Choosing the Right Location

• Select a warm, comfortable area with enough space for the pool and for movement around it.

• Place a protective waterproof mat or towel underneath to catch spills.

• Ensure the area has easy access to a tap for filling and a drain for emptying.

2. Inflating the Pool

• Unpack the birthing pool and place it on your chosen surface.

• Attach the electric air pump to the inflation valve.

• Inflate each chamber of the pool one at a time, ensuring they are firm but not overinflated.

• Inflate the floor of the pool for added comfort.

• Test the pool for leaks before filling with water.

3. Installing the Liner

• Inflate the pool 60-80% full before fitting the liner.

• Unfold and place the custom-fit liner inside the pool, smoothing it out evenly.

• Ensure the liner covers the entire inside of the pool, including the floor and walls.

Filling the Pool

1. Connecting the Hose to the Tap

• Attach the tap connector to your water source (kitchen, laundry, or bathroom tap).

• Connect the filling hose to the tap connector and ensure a secure fit.

• Run warm water (between 36-38°C) into the pool.

2. Monitoring Water Temperature

• Check the water temperature regularly with a thermometer.

• If the water cools down, top it up with warm water as needed.

• The recommended depth is 45-50 cm (or enough to cover the belly when sitting).

During Labour & Birth

• The pool is designed to maintain warmth, but add warm water if needed.

• Ensure you have support when entering and exiting the pool.

• Do not use sharp objects inside the pool.

Draining the Pool After Use

1. Removing Water Using a Submersible Water Pump (Recommended for faster draining)

• Place the submersible pump in the pool.

• Attach the drain hose and position the end of the hose in a suitable drainage area (bath, sink, or garden).

• Turn on the submersible pump and let it remove the water.

2. Using a Syphon Pump (Manual Option)

• Place one end of the syphon pump hose in the pool and the other end in a lower drainage point.

• Squeeze the pump or manually start the syphon process.

• Allow gravity to drain the water completely.

Packing Down & Returning the Pool

1. Cleaning & Drying

• Remove the liner and dispose of it safely.

• Use a clean cloth and mild soap to wipe down the pool interior.

• Rinse the pool with clean water and allow it to air dry completely before deflating.

2. Deflating the Pool

• Open the air valves and let the pool deflate naturally.

• Use the electric air pump (reverse setting) to remove air quickly.

3. Packing Everything Away

• Fold the dry pool neatly and place it into the storage bag.

• Coil the hose and pump cables properly.

• Ensure all accessories (air pump, hoses, submersible pump, and tap connectors) are included before returning.

Have a dedicated support person to help set up and pack down.

Test the filling process in advance to ensure the tap connector fits.
